Blood Brothers

Saturday 23rd May 2015

It is with great pleasure and relish that MWIS are able to announce the return of the mighty and legendary 'BLOOD BROTHERS'! 5 rare shows have been confirmed for next year. The timing of the shows may well have something to do with the fact that The Mission are making a few festival appearances around the same time but then again we could be wrong. The Blood Brothers are a law unto themselves. The Blood Brothers will be playing at The Tivoli, Buckley, on Saturday 23rd May, And two months later, the lads will be getting their beards out of mothballs to play a two night special at the 02 Academy, Islington, London on Weds 22nd and Thurs. 23rd July!
Asked to comment on the BB's return, singer and guitarist Albie Mischenzingerzen commented: "After the last Blood Brother shows I had to go into rehab for a while and when I came out I've been doing this creative therapy course for the last year or so. Managed to make a solo album called 'Album Of The Year'. You'll find it at all the best record stores and I'm sure it'll get mentioned in all the end-of-year issues of all the music magazines. I feel like I've got my mojo back so will have to be very careful not to overdo it on these band shows as rehab is too expensive to go through again. It'll be good to meet up with the lads again, it feels like it's a been a long while. You know I'm not as sprightly as I once was and my hip has been playing me up a bit recently too so I doubt I'll be doing much rolling around the stage at these shows. I will be rocking though!"

The Fall

Friday 9th October 2015

Seminal '70s post-punk band formed in Prestwich, Greater Manchester, led by the inimitable Mark E Smith. Of all the late-'70s punk and post-punk bands, none are longer-lived or more prolific than The Fall, having been known to always push boundaries, and never afraid to experiment. Famously described as 'always different, always the same' by BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel, they have maintained their cult status over the decades with an ever-evolving style that still maintains a foundation of jagged guitars, sing-speak vocals, and keyboards to create experimental, abrasive and dense musical cacophony.

China Crisis

Saturday 24th October 2015

China Crisis whose distinctive AOR-fuelled pop songs charted in the 80s when they spent a total of 92 weeks in the charts. Who said the Eighties were all bad? China Crisis, for instance, were largely considered one of the better musical things about that much-maligned decade. They formed in 1979 in Kirkby on Merseyside, with a core band of vocalist/keyboardist Garry Daly and guitarist Eddie Lundon. The band was signed to Virgin Records and recorded their debut album, Difficult Shapes & Passive Rhythms: Some People Think It's Fun To Entertain, which was released in December 1982. A re-release of 'African & White' became China Crisis' first hit in the UK, reaching number 45 in the UK Singles Chart. When the follow-up single, 'Christian' made UK number 12 in early 1983, this brought them to national prominence along with 'Wishful Thinking'. The band toured Europe and USA during the late eighties and performed in front of crowds as large as 87,00 in Germany. We welcome them to the Tivoli for what promises to be a memorable show.
